The Epson WorkForce WF-7845 is the all-in-one that even the most demanding small office users would be proud to have to produce their prints. Finding a business-ready printing solution capable of competently performing printing, scanning, copying, and faxing is more complex than it was. But it’s not just this combination of features, wrapped up in a single suite, that makes the WF-7845 the ideal printing companion for the small to medium-sized businesses WF-7845 is designed to serve. It cranks out pages quickly, and output quality is top-notch; we can confirm Epson’s claim that its PrecisionCore technology allows every droplet of ink to be used to maximum effect, with the result of laser-sharp text and graphics that rivaled the output of some color laser printers — a feat that not many inkjets can pull off. Add to that the dual 250-sheet paper trays tucked into its front and the 50-page ADF sitting on top, and this multifunction has high-volume jobs pretty well covered. Likewise, its high-resolution scanning ensured that our digital copies were as sharp as the original, leaving them more than precise enough for document archiving or detailed graphic work.

However, one item to note is TCO. As with many of its peers, the WF-7845 uses high-yield cartridges that produce higher yields but a higher price for each page — an important consideration for many businesses that can profit from its speed. Also, while the speed is impressive, the first-page-out time could be a little faster — a quibble, but one that could matter if you are in a hurry. Nevertheless, with those caveats in mind, the WF-7845 represents a well-rounded option that delivers wide-format capability, high-quality output, and an impressive feature set with the convenience of wireless operation, given that your workloads and your budget can handle the investment.
