Epson Stylus Photo RX640 Specifications

The Epson Stylus Photo RX640 is an all in one inkjet printer for photography enthusiasts. This adaptable device allows users to achieve photo quality prints without any other equipment. At 5,760 x 1,440 dpi with an ultra fine dot pitch, text documents look so sharp you could count whiskers, but the real highlight is it does just as well at printing photographs as photo labs do them themselves. Although the RX640 excels at reproducing images, it does text documents, too if in less detail than the specialized laser printer. There may be better choices for getting clean printouts of essential documents.

Usability wise, a color LCD screen simplifies navigation of all the settings and options. You can print directly from the camera’s memory stick or the camera’s memory without using a computer. Computer free photo printing is a good thing in this busy age. But printing in the highest quality settings could be slow if you are in a hurry and perhaps inadequate for everyone. These days, modern connectivity options like Wi-Fi or mobile printing are the norm for people.

One point to remember when buying a printer like the RX640 is that ink costs money. The cost of replacement cartridges is high if you print frequently. On the other hand, the printer employs individual ink cartridges, you only need to replace the one color of ink that’s gone, saving you some money in total cost. Also, including a photo specific color palette gives a wider color gamut for high fidelity photography. In sum, the Epson Stylus Photo RX640 is a choice many will not regret, yet its speed and running costs might be the price you pay for good photo prints. As a product for photo printing tasks, those looking at this model will be satisfied. However, it could better suit a newer multifunctional machine for those with more general needs.
