Epson Perfection V37 Specifications
Epson’s new Perfection V37 scanner design for high-resolution scanning merged with the user-friendly operation – equally targeted towards the casual home user and the busy small business operator who craves high-quality digital reproductions without the headaches of a professional setup. With an impressive 4800 x 9600 dpi resolution, the Perfection V37 backs it up with Epson’s exclusive ReadyScan LED technology for excellent, detailed scans with true-to-life color fidelity. This feature comes into its own in scanning photos and fine artwork. The V37 will capture the fine gradations of color and intricate details that a dedicated enthusiast or professional can pick out. At the same time, the LED technology’s zero warm-up time is a bonus, reducing power usage and providing instant start-up for swift and energy-efficient scanning.
In addition to the scanner’s versatility, it also benefits from ease of use thanks to its ergonomically-minded design; the V37 features an ultra slim profile, an easy-to-navigate interface and comes equipped with four customizable buttons for creating PDFs, sending emails, and copying items with a single touch. Including the ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch Deluxe software, which allows for the seamless stitching together of more oversized items, makes sense as it dramatically boosts the scanner’s functionality; this feature will no doubt appeal to anyone who wants to digitize more significant documents or images — such as oversized prints, bulky pieces of artwork, or detailed maps. The V37 is compatible with both Windows and MacOS, so it’ll play nice with almost any system, and while it won’t ship with any advanced software for professional image editing, users can easily find third-party apps (such as Adobe’s now-subscription-only Lightroom) for more specialized needs.
The V37 has its limitations, though. Moreover, flat document scans are one thing — film is another. The V37 doesn’t cater to film scanning, which will rule it out for film photographers looking to produce top-quality negatives and slides. Nevertheless, the V37 is a terrific performer for its price and capabilities. It’s as good a pick as any for classroom or home-office duty or even for a small business environment where occasional, high-quality scans are necessary, without the ongoing need to scan in bulk.
