Epson GT-10000 Specifications
The Epson GT-10000 is an A3 large-format scanner built for corporate environments that require high-resolution and full-color capability. As a result of its solid framework and larger scan bed(A3, or 11.7 x 17 inches), it can handle more significant documents than standard letter or legal-sized papers, so it is well-suited for map-making, architectural drawings, and other items of larger dimensions. It scans clearly at a crisp resolution, which can go as high as 600 x 2400 dpi in hardware, capturing even the inking nuances in artwork or prints faithfully.
High-speed scanning is one of the chief advantages of the GT-10000. It’s fast, with plenty of speed to enable use by people doing a lot of scans. Although by no means is the fleetest scanner around, its speed is quite competitive at its resolution and price range. Still, because it communicates via SCSI, to work in the first place, one’s host computer must have a compatible interface–an obstacle for some users since most modern computers have moved past this standard. Users wanting to work with more modern systems will have to buy an adapter, increasing the total outlay and raising the complexity of system configuration.
In contrast to the latest models, the GT-10000 still lacks some bells and whistles, such as wireless connectivity and an intuitive touchscreen interface. Its larger size and heavier weight make it less suitable for carrying around and more of a fixture in your typical office environment. But if you want a reliable beast of burden for those businesses that do a lot of large-format scanning, then although old hat, it keeps pounding away faithfully year after year. Using an appropriately configured interface, the Epson GT-10000 offers dependable high-quality scans, such that it continues to be helpful in environments when its unique capabilities are necessary.
