Epson ET-4850 Specifications
Epson has launched the EcoTank ET-4850, a cartridge-free printer with an online front page to save money and time.
The EcoTank ET-4850 takes the radical ink approach for an all-in-one color inkjet printer to a small office or working-from-home environment. With printing costs and versatility a significant part of the decision, the cartridge-free EcoTank system from Epson allows users to refill their printer with bottles that take less plastic to produce than the traditional 350 to 1,000-year cartridges that end up in garbage dumps.
The bottles are the star of the online site. Epson says one set is two years of ink under everyday use because less is lost in the refilling process, using the bottle refill equation paper for paper, as well, under regular use. It’s a small step for you but one huge decimated toner cartridge problem for everyone.
From a performance standpoint, the ET-4850 can provide high-quality prints that are laser-focused and accurate with crisp text and vibrant graphic prints. Print speeds are also lovely, though certainly not overly speedy, and more than good enough for a small office. A convenient 250-sheet paper tray means less refilling (saving you time in the long term), while duplex (aka two-sided) printing is excellent for saving trees using both sides of paper.
Multifunctionally, scanning and copying work great, and faxing still seems determined to stick around despite all the paperless work we do these days. The ET-4850 is a cost-efficient workhorse with a multifunction section that allows you to open more full-size windows.
It is not just an ink-slobbering workhorse, though. The ET-4850 has a bunch of connectivity features. An easy-to-use interface and a 2.4-inch color touchscreen allow for easy navigation. Wireless printing is easy, with Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct options, and compatibility with Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Epson’s own Smart Panel app, allowing all printer operations to be carried out from a smartphone or tablet. Voice-activated printing is also on board. While the initial outlay is higher than that of some competitors, the overall running costs and function will make that outlay worthwhile in the long run. For an overall reliable, quality, economical everyday-use printer, the Epson EcoTank ET-4850 might be the intelligent choice.
