The Epson EcoTank ET-2400 is an intriguing option for those looking for a printer that balances cost, efficiency, and convenience. Following the EcoTank mantra of allowing you to toss those ink cartridges in favor of a set of refillable ink tanks, the ET-2400 cuts down on the waste and total cost of printing in the long run. When you unbox the ET-2400, you see a pretty no-frills look — something right at home in the office but with a smaller footprint that’ll fit into tighter spaces in a home office. The biggest draw of the ET-2400 is a promise of an ultra-high page yield, so there’s enough ink included in the initial set of inks to print thousands of pages without having to worry about when you’ll run out of ink and when you’re going to have to go out to the office store again.

Functionally, the ET-2400 is a no-frills device, with printing being its forte, although it tosses in scanning and copying to offer a few additional use cases. The ET-2400 kicks out output with enough printing quality to suffice for everyday tasks and family or personal projects. Photos and graphics came out alright, though it won’t satisfy those with an eye for professional imaging. However, that’s something you should expect from something other than a reasonable budget AIO model. Ease of use is the game’s name, here, as the interface is about as primary as it gets — no touchscreen, natch, just a control panel with physical buttons. It’s a great budget option for everyday print use, and we could see the EcoTank line become even better value for money.
