Epson EcoTank ET-2820 Specifications

The Epson EcoTank ET-2820 is a game-changer for those seeking to escape the agony of regular cartridge purchases. This all-in-one inkjet printer is aimed at entry-level users and serves the needs of the budget-conscious consumer who still doesn’t want to sacrifice print quality for cost efficiency. The big selling point of the EcoTank is that it does away with traditional cartridges in favor of large, refillable ink tanks designed to reduce long-term running costs dramatically. It’s one area in which previous iterations have excelled, and it has been refined even further for this model. Epson has improved the system and made it easier to replenish, with a mess-free process that it swears “is a breeze.”

All that being said, how well does this very affordable printer deliver? Well, the ET-2820 cranks out sharp text and vibrant graphics on various types of paper. Print speeds are acceptable for most home use and well-suited for a small office that doesn’t do a lot of printing. ET-2820 isn’t the fastest printer out there, but there’s no way to argue with the cost savings provided by the EcoTank system. On the minus side, there’s no automatic two-sided printing. Given who this printer is aimed at and Epson’s ecological claims about EcoTank, it would have been excellent to see it here.

The ET-2820 is also a bright spot on connectivity, with Wi-Fi support that allows it to print via the Epson iPrint app. This mobile app supports printing from iOS and Android devices, including smartphones and tablets. The absence of an Ethernet port won’t be missed much, and its lack of special features, together with its paper tray capacity, seems a well-measured set of trade-offs that still stays true to the spirit of delivering EcoTank printer performance at an attractive price for this product segment.

Overall, the Epson EcoTank ET-2820 is a good choice for people who aren’t necessarily printing daily or have high-volume printing needs but are more concerned with saving on their ink costs and environmental consciousness. Its appeal is in the ink cost savings and print quality over time, making it a good choice for home, personal, or family document printing needs and a great candidate for the homeschoolers among us.
