Epson Expression Premium XP-710 Specifications

Sitting comfortably in a mid-range spot as an all-in-one printer, the Epson Expression Premium XP-710 is aimed at home users. Designed to offer the flexibility of a multifunction device but with the print quality you’d expect from one of Epson’s photo-centric models, the XP-710 is a unit that doesn’t dominate your desk, making it perfect where real estate is at a premium. The unit’s glossy black finish and a tilting control panel with an 8.8cm LCD touchscreen give it a contemporary aesthetic that will sit comfortably in many interior design environments.

But the XP-710 comes into its own in terms of performance once it gets to high-resolution photo printing. Thanks to Epson’s Claria Home Ink technology, those five cartridge inks help it produce some genuinely vivid colors and good detail, which should mean budding photographers can be pretty happy with it as a home printer. Elsewhere, built-in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct, along with regular USB, mean you can easily print from laptops, smartphones, and tablets, and Epson’s free mobile printing app should support those last two with ease. The XP-710 also offers duplex printing, which is only sometimes something you get on a home-focused inkjet and can be a helpful time and paper-saving feature for producing double-sided, professional-looking documents.

That’s not to say the unit is without its caveats. As with most inkjets, you should look closely at ink cost-effectiveness. The XP-710 uses five cartridges, one for each color and a dedicated black. As such, when a color runs dry, you only need to replace the depleted cartridge, which will undoubtedly add up. The unit also could be faster. That won’t be a problem for many users, but those with a heavy printing load may need help finding the XP-710 entirely up to snuff.

Then, there’s the small paper tray capacity, which might not be optimal for anyone who needs to print regularly and in large volumes. Nevertheless, no doubt this is an option for those looking to maximize print quality, and they can do so without it taking up too much desk space.
