Out of the box, the ET-4500 comes with enough ink to last for years during everyday use. This bold and potentially dubious claim is valid for the average home office. Plus, while the design is functional and modest, the refill bottles are a breeze, enabling users to fill the tanks without spilling a drop of ink. These accessible, spill-free bottles ensure that you don’t end up with an office needing a new pink paint job, which is often a problem with traditional cartridge replacements. The EcoTank system means a significant reduction in ink costs. While the more-than-average street price of the ET-4500 puts the printer at a disadvantage well before the higher cost of the machine even makes sense, the potential savings are substantial, for sure, especially for those who print regularly or need to print documents and photos in higher-than-average volume.

The ET-4500’s print speeds won’t break any records, and you might find its pace a bit leisurely if you have heavy print demands. But it’s a budget, no-frills machine that delivers where it should, with low-cost ink and a solid performance for everyday printing tasks.
